Postdoctoral Researcher Recruitment Announcement from Professor Huang Bing's Research Group at the School of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University

Ph.D ¥150,000 - ¥300,000 / Year

Hubei Wuhan No. 299, Bayi Road, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province

Job Description

Due to the needs of scientific research, Professor Huang Bing's research group from the School of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences at Wuhan University (for personal profile, please visit http://jszy.whu.edu.cn/bhuang/) is now recruiting 1-3 postdoctoral researchers. The recruitment is ongoing and will continue until the positions are filled. We sincerely welcome young talents to join us! Professor Huang Bing's research group is establishing an independent theoretical and computational chemistry research group that combines machine learning (referred to as the data-Postdociven quantum chemistry laboratory, or d2qc for short. The group's website is currently under construction). As part of the large team led by Professor Zhuang Lin in the HyPostdocogen Energy Electrochemistry Laboratory (see http://electrochem.whu.edu.cn), Professor Huang Bing's research group mainly explores innovative models and methods in the fields of quantum chemistry and machine learning by leveraging methods or tools from mathematics, physics, computer science, and chemistry. The ultimate goal is to achieve efficient and high-precision quantum chemistry calculations/prediction of compound properties and to understand the nature of chemical bonds in simple/complex chemical systems from a first-principles perspective. Secondly, the developed models are used for prediction and then applied to guide actual chemical processes, such as the search/optimization of molecules with given properties, the design of catalysts or electrolytes in surface catalysis/electrocatalysis, etc. Huang Bing is a professor and doctoral supervisor at Wuhan University. He has been selected for the National High-level Youth Talent Program. As the first author and/or corresponding author, he has published over 30 papers in internationally renowned journals such as Science, Nat. Chem., Chem. Rev., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., and Chem. Sci. His research papers have been positively cited more than 3,100 times, and his personal H-index is 22. I. Job Requirements Applicants should generally be no older than 35 years old (exceptionally outstanding candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis). 2. Possess a doctoral degree in mathematics, quantum physics/chemistry, computer science, data science or related fields (as of the date of application submission, having obtained the doctoral degree for no more than three years, or having met the basic requirements for the doctoral dissertation defense at the time of application). 3. Has published SCI papers, showing a strong interest in cutting-edge research related to quantum chemistry and machine learning, and possesses programming skills, an understanding of the fundamental principles of quantum physics/chemistry, or familiarity with machine learning algorithms and data analysis tools. Applicants should possess a strong sense of teamwork, be willing to actively participate in team projects, and be ready to share knowledge and experience with other members. II. Remuneration and Development Opportunities According to the relevant employment regulations of Wuhan University and in consideration of the specific conditions of the appointee, we offer competitive salary and benefits, development opportunities and favorable support conditions. 1. Salary and Benefits: The annual salary for general applicants ranges from 150,000 to 300,000 RMB (before tax, including university-provided and co-supervisor rewards). Particularly outstanding candidates will be recommended to apply for the "Hongyi Postdoctoral" program (2024 Global Recruitment Announcement for Wuhan University's "Hongyi Postdoctoral" Program - whu.edu.cn) and key-funded postdoctoral positions. Specific salaries will be determined in accordance with the university's relevant regulations. We offer housing provident fund, endowment insurance, occupational annuity, postdoctoral apartments or housing subsidies, and benefits such as chilPostdocen's enrollment in kindergartens and schools, and medical care. "Hongyi Postdoctoral" fellows will have priority access to postdoctoral apartments. Additionally, various postdoctoral project subsidies from the state, Hubei Province, and Wuhan City can be stacked. 2. Development Opportunities: During the period of stationing, one can apply for the qualification of associate senior position. If one meets the school's talent introduction policy and fulfills the conditions for leaving the station, one can apply for a teaching position at the school. 3. Excellent support conditions: Strong support for applying for the National Youth Fund and the Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program; numerous opportunities for overseas study and exchange; the research group has long-term cooperative relationships with outstanding researchers at home and abroad, including the von Lilienfeld group at the University of Toronto and the Anouar group at Argonne National Laboratory.
