Postdoctoral Researcher Recruitment Announcement from Professor Taiyou Chen's Research Group at the School of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University
Job Description
Talented and accomplished, Professor Chen Caiyou is a faculty member at the School of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University, where he serves as a doctoral supervisor and research group leader. He is also the chief scientist of a key research and development project for young scholars under the National Key Research and Development Program of China and a young editorial board member of Chin. J. Chem. In 2022, he was selected into the National Program for Overseas High-level Talents Introduction and the Hubei Province Program for Overseas High-level Talents Introduction. In 2023, he was recognized as a Wuhan Talent. He graduated from Wuhan University with a bachelor's degree in 2012 and obtained his Ph.D. from the same university in 2017, under the guidance of Professor Xu-Mu Zhang. From 2017 to 2022, he conducted postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology, under the mentorship of Gregory C. Fu and Jonas C. Peters, both members of the National Academy of Sciences. In July 2022, he joined Wuhan University to start his independent research career. His research group focuses on the asymmetric photo/electrocatalysis of low-cost metals, biomass conversion, chiral catalyst development, green synthesis of Postdocugs, reaction mechanism studies, and DFT theoretical calculations. To date, he has published two papers in Nature as the first author (including co-first author). J. Am. Chem. Soc.; Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.;
Acc. Chem. Res.;
He has published over 20 papers in journals such as Chem. Sci. and more than 30 papers in total. Meanwhile, he has published 5 authorized patents. The chiral bisphosphine ligand based on ferrocene developed by him was named Wudaphos after Wuhan University. In 2017, he was invited to attend the 67th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Germany. In 2022, he was invited to attend the 4th World Laureates Forum. He was awarded the title of "Top Ten Academic Stars of Wuhan University" in 2017.
I. Research Directions
Our research group is dedicated to the development of asymmetric photo/electrocatalysis and biomass conversion using inexpensive metals, with a focus on the development of chiral catalysts. We employ a variety of methods, including DFT calculations, kinetics, time-resolved laser spectroscopy, and UV-Vis spectroscopy, to deeply explore reaction mechanisms. The group intends to apply the newly developed methods and chiral catalysts to the efficient and green synthesis of biomass conversion and Postdocugs as well as bioactive molecules. Currently, there are multiple projects in our group that urgently need to be carried out. We sincerely invite postdoctoral researchers and research assistants to join us!
Our research group has ample and fully furnished laboratory and office space (equipped with DFT computing platforms, HPLC, GC, GC-MS, glove boxes and other facilities). Currently, we have sufficient enrollment quotas for doctoral (3) and master's (3) students, as well as two key-funded postdoctoral positions from the university. We warmly welcome young and ambitious researchers with a strong interest in asymmetric photoelectrocatalysis, biomass conversion, and chiral catalyst development to join our team.
II. Job Requirements
Two postdoctoral positions are available for individuals who have obtained (or are about to obtain) a doctoral degree, have received systematic and rigorous training in organic chemistry experimental skills, possess strong independent abilities to search and read English literature, and can conduct independent research under the guidance of the PI. Applicants should have published SCI papers as the first author and have a strong interest in organic synthesis and catalysis, as well as a sense of responsibility and team leadership skills.
III. Salary and Benefits
Postdoctoral fellowships are evaluated based on research background and research plans, with an annual salary ranging from 260,000 to 400,000 yuan (including a portion from the research group). For exceptionally outstanding candidates, the salary can be further negotiated. We provide housing provident fund, endowment insurance, occupational annuity, housing subsidy or postdoctoral apartments, and offer benefits such as chilPostdocen's education and medical care. All are in accordance with the relevant regulations of the national postdoctoral program and Wuhan University. You can apply for Wuhan University's "Hongyi Postdoctoral Program" (with an annual salary of 300,000 yuan), "Key-Supported Postdoctoral Fellows" (subject to university review), and the National Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program. Additionally, you can apply for various postdoctoral project subsidies from the national, Hubei Province, and Wuhan City levels.
