Job Description

Professor Qiang Cheng's research group from the School of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences at Wuhan University is in need of several postdoctoral researchers and research assistants for its scientific research. The recruitment is ongoing and we sincerely welcome young talents to join us!

I. Team Introduction

Qiang Cheng is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University, and the head of a research group. He received his Ph.D. from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2018, under the guidance of Academician Shuli You. From 2018 to 2023, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Germany and the University of Münster in Germany. In 2022, he was selected for the National Program for Overseas High-level Talents. In March 2023, he joined the College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, Wuhan University, and in February 2024, he was selected as a PI of the Wuhan University Taikang Life Sciences Center. To date, he has published 8 research papers as the first or co-first author in international authoritative journals such as Science, Nat. Chem. (2 papers), Chem, J. Am. Chem. Soc., and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (3 papers), and 4 review and commentary articles as the first or co-first or corresponding author in international authoritative journals such as Trends Chem., Chem. Rev., Chem, and Chin. J. Chem. He has published a total of 18 papers, with over 1,500 citations.

II. Research Directions

Our research group is dedicated to the study of carbon-heteroatom bond formation reactions guided by radical chemistry. Our research directions include photocatalytic chemistry, organic fluorine chemistry (18F fluorine chemistry), organometallic chemistry, asymmetric catalysis, biomass conversion, and the development of new catalysts and reagents. We aim to integrate our research achievements with related fields such as biomedicine, nuclear medicine, and disease diagnosis. Our group has ample and fully furnished laboratory and office spaces. We welcome young and ambitious researchers interested in these fields to join us.

III. Job Requirements

Applicants should generally be no more than 35 years old, have or be about to obtain a doctoral degree, possess relevant field experience and solid academic and research capabilities. Those with research backgrounds in organic synthesis and catalysis will be given priority.

2. Has published high-level academic papers in professional fields and possesses a certain ability to write independently in English.

3. Be capable of independently conducting research under the guidance of the project leader and possess a spirit of teamwork.

IV. Salary and Benefits

Postdoctoral positions are evaluated based on research background and research plans, and competitive salaries and good development opportunities will be provided.

2. Annual salary: 300,000 - 400,000 RMB (before tax, including a portion from the research group). For exceptionally outstanding candidates, the salary can be further negotiated. The research group will provide additional allowances based on research achievements.

3. We strongly support applications for national funds such as the National Youth Fund and the Postdoctoral Fund, as well as Wuhan University's "Hongyi Postdoctoral Program" and "Key Postdoctoral Funding Program". These can be combined with the National Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program and various provincial and municipal postdoctoral project funds.

4. During the period of stationing, one can apply for the qualification of associate senior position. If one meets the school's talent introduction policy and fulfills the conditions for leaving the station, one can apply for a teaching position at the school.
