Job Description
Professor Yang Zhijian's research group from the Wuhan Institute of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, Wuhan University, is seeking several postdoctoral researchers for its research projects. The recruitment is ongoing. We sincerely welcome young talents to join us! Yang Zhijian, second-level professor of Wuhan University, Vice Director of Wuhan Institute of Mathematics and Intelligence and Director of Hubei National Applied Mathematics Center. He joined Wuhan University in June 2010. Currently, he is a member of the 8th Academic Committee of the Ministry of Education, President of Hubei Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and Director of Hubei Key Laboratory of Computational Science. He once served as President of East Asia Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and editorial board member of journals such as EAJAM and CSIAM-AM. Professor Yang Zhijian’s research focuses on multi-scale modeling and computation as well as mathematical theories of artificial intelligence. He has presided over numerous research projects including the National Distinguished Young Scholars Fund, key R&D programs of the Ministry of Science and Technology, integrated and general projects under major NSFC research programs, and Hubei Innovation Group Program. He has also completed more than 20 industry-university cooperation projects with enterprises including Huawei. He is the recipient of the 2nd Wang Xuan Applied Mathematics Prize issued by CSIAM. I. Research Directions Scientific and engineering computing, multiscale modeling and computing with applications, mathematical theories and applications of artificial intelligence II. Job Requirements 1. Possess sound ideological and political qualities and professional ethics, uphold rigorous academic standards, be dedicated to work, and maintain good physical health. 2. Applicants are generally under 35 years old, with solid mathematical foundations and publications of high-level academic papers. 3. Have obtained a doctoral degree within three years before application, or have fulfilled all basic requirements for doctoral dissertation defense at the time of submission. 4. Abide by other postdoctoral management regulations of Wuhan University. III. Job Responsibilities 1. Conduct independent research under supervisor’s guidance, publish papers in reputable domestic and international journals, and attend major academic conferences in the field. 2. Assist the supervisor in project application, team management, and organization of academic seminars; postdocs are fully encouraged and supported to apply for independent research funding. IV. Remuneration and Benefits 1. Salary and Benefits: Pre-tax annual salary for regular applicants ranges from 180,000 to 300,000 RMB (includes subsidies from the research group). Exceptionally outstanding candidates will be recommended for Wuhan University’s Hongyi Postdoctoral Program and other key funded postdoctoral slots. Salary standards follow university rules, and multiple layers of postdoctoral grants from national, Hubei provincial and Wuhan municipal authorities can be stacked. 2. During the postdoctoral tenure, researchers may apply for associate senior professional title qualifications. Those satisfying the university’s talent recruitment standards and exit criteria can apply for formal faculty positions after completing the postdoctoral term. 3. Other benefits include housing provident fund, endowment insurance, occupational annuity, on-campus postdoctoral apartments or housing subsidies in line with Wuhan University postdoctoral policies.
