Job Description
Professor Zhang Xiaolian's research group from the Taikang Medical College (School of Basic Medical Sciences) of Wuhan University is recruiting several postdoctoral researchers for scientific research work on a long-term basis. We sincerely welcome outstanding young talents to join us! Zhang Xiaolian, Honyee Distinguished Chair Professor and Second-Class Professor of Wuhan University, serves as Director of the Department of Immunology, School of Basic Medical Sciences (Taikang Medical College), and Director of Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of Allergy and Immune-related Diseases. She is a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Chief Scientist of national key R&D programs, winner of the Zhang Shuzheng Outstanding Achievement Award in Glycobiology, member of Wuhan University Academic Committee, and Deputy Director of the Medical School Academic Committee. She also holds posts including Deputy Chairperson of the Microbiology and Immunology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Wuhan University (Medical Edition). Professor Zhang Xiaolian has long devoted herself to research on pathogenic microbial glycobiology and infection immunity, achieving internationally influential breakthroughs. She has presided over major research tasks including national key R&D programs, special tuberculosis projects spanning the 11th to 13th Five-Year Plans, the National Distinguished Young Scholar Fund, and key NSFC projects. Her research has won four provincial and ministerial first and second-class science awards, such as the Ministry of Education Natural Science Award. She holds 73 national invention patents. She has published more than 200 SCI papers as corresponding or sole author in journals including Nature Communications, Science Advances and JACS, among which 17 papers have an impact factor above 10. Many works are highlighted by Faculty of 1000 and listed among the top 2% global biomedical papers. Her publications have accumulated over 7000 citations in top journals like Nature and Nature Reviews Microbiology, with 12 papers cited more than 100 times individually. I. Research Directions The team studies glycobiology and infection immunity of major human pathogenic microorganisms such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and hepatitis viruses. The research aims to identify core pathogenic factors and their immune interaction mechanisms, so as to deliver novel diagnostic biomarkers, drug targets and vaccine development strategies. II. Job Requirements 1. Possess sound ideological and political qualities, be dedicated to higher education, abide by laws and regulations; generally under 35 years old, proficient in English reading, writing and academic communication. 2. Strong teamwork awareness, proactive, responsible, diligent, down-to-earth and passionate about scientific research. 3. Hold or soon to obtain a doctoral degree in molecular biology, immunology or related disciplines, satisfying Wuhan University’s postdoctoral recruitment standards. 4. Have published high-quality first-author papers in mainstream international journals during doctoral studies. 5. Candidates with experience in protein structural analysis, animal model experiments, bioinformatics analysis are preferred. III. Job Responsibilities 1. Conduct independent research under supervisor’s guidance, publish papers in reputable domestic and international journals, and attend key academic conferences in the field. 2. Assist the supervisor in project application, team and laboratory management, and organization of academic seminars; postdocs are fully encouraged and supported to apply for independent research funding. IV. Remuneration and Benefits 1. Pre-tax annual salary for regular postdocs ranges from 180,000 to 300,000 yuan (includes group subsidies). Exceptionally outstanding candidates will be recommended for Wuhan University Hongyi Postdoctoral Program and other key funded postdoctoral slots, with salary set per university policies. Multiple layers of postdoctoral grants from national, Hubei provincial and Wuhan municipal authorities can be stacked. 2. Welfare packages include housing provident fund, endowment insurance and occupational annuity. Priority access to on-campus postdoctoral apartments or housing allowances, plus supporting services for children’s kindergarten and school admission, medical care and other amenities. 3. Career Development: Postdocs may apply for associate senior professional title qualifications during their tenure. Those meeting the university’s talent recruitment criteria and exit requirements can apply for formal faculty positions.
