Job Description
Hou Haobo, the team leader, is a foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, a second-level professor at Wuhan University, a Lujia Distinguished Scholar, the director of the Wuhan University (Zhaoqing) Institute of Resources and Environmental Technology, a recipient of the China Youth Science and Technology Award (1996), a recipient of the Special Government Allowance, a member of the Environmental Committee of the National Engineering Education Accreditation Committee, and a council member of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences. He has long been engaged in teaching, research and social services in the field of solid waste recycling. He has made outstanding achievements in the development of solid waste-based environmental materials, solid waste resource utilization, and soil pollution remediation. He has presided over more than 60 projects including national key research and development plans and national science and technology support plans. He has published 6 monographs and textbooks as the chief or co-editor, obtained over 50 national invention patents, and published more than 300 academic papers, of which over 200 were indexed by SCI. He has formulated 12 national and provincial-level technical standards and work methods. He has won more than 10 national and provincial-level awards (all ranked first), including the National Invention Award (2023) and the Special Prize of Science and Technology Progress of Hubei Province (2021). The project team, in response to the major demand for the large-scale and safe utilization of fine-grained solid waste, has for the first time in the world proposed a theoretical system for the resource utilization and pollution prevention and control of solid waste, including the low-temperature and low-calcium activation mechanism of inert components of fine-grained solid waste. They have also pioneered key technologies such as the low-temperature and low-calcium activation of large-scale fine-grained solid waste, and created new technologies such as "low-calcium and low-temperature disintegration" and "super-stable chemical consolidation" of fine-grained solid waste and "lattice embedding solidification" of heavy metals. They have formed an innovative system covering the entire industrial chain. The achievements have been demonstrated and applied in engineering in industries such as mining, transportation, and water conservancy, covering 20 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China and countries along the "Belt and Road". The operation results of the projects meet the world's most stringent environmental standards. They have achieved a breakthrough from zero to one in the large-scale and safe utilization of fine-grained solid waste, which accounts for more than half of China's solid waste emissions. They have led China's fine-grained solid waste safe utilization to the forefront of the world and played an important role in promoting China's green, low-carbon and circular development. The team currently has two professors, one associate professor, two postdoctoral researchers, and over 30 graduate students. I. Recruitment Requirements
1. Relevant professional background in environmental science and engineering, materials science and engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering and technology, metallurgical engineering, mining engineering, and geology (physical chemistry direction).
2. Enthusiastic about scientific research, with a strong sense of dedication, innovative consciousness, research spirit and teamwork spirit; having a solid academic and research training background; abiding by academic ethics.
3. Candidates should be outstanding in both academic performance and moral conduct, in good health, generally no older than 35 years old, have obtained their doctoral degrees within no more than three years or have completed their doctoral dissertations and are about to receive their doctoral degrees. They should possess the ability to independently conduct scientific research and have a high level of English proficiency, including excellent reading, communication and writing skills in English, and have published research papers in internationally authoritative journals in their respective fields.
