Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), founded in December 1949, is the first institution of higher education specializing in foreign languages established after the founding of the People's Republic of China and one of the cradles of foreign language education in New China. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, co-constructed with the Shanghai Municipal Government, and included in the "211 Project" and "Double First-Class" initiative.

Adhering to the school motto of "Aspire High, Excel Globally" and the educational philosophy of "Interpret the World, Empower the Future," SISU takes "serving national development, all-round human growth, social progress, and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries" as its mission. It deeply promotes the "Multilingual +" educational strategy and educational reforms centered on "cross-disciplinarity, integration, and connectivity," aiming to cultivate outstanding international talents who are "proficient in languages, knowledgeable about countries, and expert in fields." Currently, SISU hosts a range of research platforms, including:

- 1 joint research platform co-founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and the Shanghai Municipal Government (China-Arab Reform and Development Research Center);

- 1 key research base for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education / Shanghai university think tank (Middle East Studies Institute);

- 1 research base of the National Language Commission / national language think tank (China Foreign Language Strategy Research Center);

- 1 Shanghai municipal key research base (Institute of Global Governance and Regional Country Studies);

- 1 joint research base with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (China-Japan-ROK Cooperation Research Center);

- 3 regional and country research bases of the Ministry of Education (EU Research Center, Russia Research Center, UK Research Center) and 20 registered national and regional research centers of the Ministry of Education;

- 2 Sino-foreign cultural exchange research bases of the International Department of the Ministry of Education (China-UK Cultural Exchange Research Base, China-Germany Cultural Exchange Research Base);

- 1 joint base with the Education Management Information Center of the Ministry of Education (International Comparative Research Center for Educational Informatization);

- 1 key laboratory of the Ministry of Education (Brain-Computer Collaborative Information Behavior Laboratory);

- 2 key research bases for humanities and social sciences in Shanghai universities (G20 Research Center, Shanghai English Education and Teaching Research Base);

- 2 Shanghai social science innovation research bases (Comparative Research Base for Chinese and Foreign Cultural Soft Power, Regional and Country Research Base from the Perspective of Language and Cultural Circles);

- It also co-founds the Foreign Cultural Policy Research Base with the Development Research Center of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and serves as a branch of the Shanghai Social Survey Research Center.

SISU boasts a comprehensive talent cultivation system, offering 56 undergraduate programs covering 12 undergraduate disciplines, including 35 language-related programs and 21 non-language programs. It has 9 first-level discipline master's degree programs: Foreign Language and Literature, Political Science, Applied Economics, Education, Chinese Language and Literature, Journalism and Communication, Business Administration, Marxist Theory, and Regional and Country Studies (interdisciplinary), with 42 second-level discipline master's programs under them. There are 10 professional master's degree programs: Business Administration, Translation, International Chinese Education, Finance, Law, International Business, Journalism and Communication, Public Administration, Digital Economy, and International Affairs. Additionally, SISU has 4 first-level discipline doctoral programs: Foreign Language and Literature, Political Science, Business Administration, and Regional and Country Studies (interdisciplinary), with 22 second-level discipline doctoral programs under them; 2 professional doctoral degree programs: Translation and International Chinese Education; and 3 postdoctoral research stations: Foreign Language and Literature, Political Science, and Business Administration.

The university is now publicly recruiting postdoctoral researchers for 2025 from home and abroad.

#### I. Application Requirements

Applicants for the postdoctoral position must commit to full-time research during their tenure and meet the following criteria:

1. Uphold the guidelines and policies of the Party, have excellent academic and moral integrity, be of upright character, love higher education, and possess a spirit of teamwork;

2. Have a strong academic background, a solid foundation in research, strong teaching and research capabilities, and great academic potential, in accordance with the university's relevant management regulations;

3. Meet the age requirements specified on the official postdoctoral website; generally, candidates should have obtained their doctoral degree within the past 3 years (for those entering the second or subsequent postdoctoral positions, there is no restriction on the years since obtaining the doctoral degree);

4. Leading cadres of Party and government organs are not eligible to apply for postdoctoral positions.

#### II. Related Benefits

1. Postdoctoral researchers who are selected for multiple postdoctoral programs during their tenure can receive a maximum annual salary of 550,000 yuan (pre-tax), with a minimum annual salary of 180,000 yuan (pre-tax) guaranteed;

2. Eligible researchers can apply for Shanghai household registration in accordance with Shanghai's policies;

3. The working period during the postdoctoral tenure is counted towards the total working years, and research achievements made during the tenure can be used as a basis for evaluating professional and technical positions during or after the tenure.

#### III. Recruitment Procedures

1. Applicants submit the required materials to the relevant secondary unit;

2. The secondary unit conducts a strict assessment of the applicant's ideological and moral character in accordance with the *Implementation Measures for the Ideological and Moral Assessment of Prospective Faculty and Staff of Shanghai International Studies University* (SISU Party Personnel [2020] No. 1), forms an expert review panel for postdoctoral admission interviews, notifies applicants who pass the preliminary review of application materials to participate in the interview, and identifies postdoctoral candidates;

3. The secondary unit submits the list of candidates and relevant materials to the University Postdoctoral Management Office;

4. The University Postdoctoral Management Office sets up a special working group to review the postdoctoral candidates reported by the secondary unit, and submits the results to the university leaders in charge and the postdoctoral management department of the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau for approval;

5. The University Postdoctoral Management Office processes the admission procedures for those who have obtained approval.
