Job Description

North China Electric Power University is a key national university directly under the Ministry of Education, a core institution supported by the national "211 Project" and the "985 Project Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform". Position Settings Two types of postdoctoral openings are available: New Lecturer Postdoctoral and Regular Postdoctoral. New Lecturer Postdoctoral integrates faculty employment and postdoctoral training mechanisms, serving as a key channel for recruiting and training new teachers. Appointed directly as lecturers with a typical tenure of 2–3 years. Those who pass the exit assessment will sign formal employment contracts with the university; their postdoctoral start date counts as the beginning of their first employment assessment cycle. Regular Postdoctoral are recruited to meet demands of key developing disciplines, elite academic teams, and major research projects, with a standard 2-year term. High-performing postdocs may apply for formal faculty positions through the school’s standard recruitment process after completion. II. Application Conditions 1. Abide by national laws and regulations; possess sound ideological and political performance, moral character, academic integrity, and balanced excellence in character and scholarship. Maintain physical and mental health, strong research capabilities, innovative potential, teamwork awareness, and solid written, verbal, and classroom teaching skills. 2. Recent doctoral graduates: maximum age 35 for regular postdocs; maximum age 32 in principle for New Lecturer Postdoctoral. 3. Candidates with outstanding research outputs receive priority consideration. 4. Must conduct full-time postdoctoral research on campus. III. Remuneration and Benefits 1. New Lecturer Postdoctoral receive full benefits matching Level-10 lecturer standards. Annual dedicated postdoc allowance is 50000 yuan, research startup fund is 150000 yuan. A 20000-yuan annual housing subsidy is provided for those who decline campus accommodation. 2. Regular Postdoctoral have a minimum annual salary of 120000 yuan. 3. Research achievements by postdocs qualify for performance bonuses under the university’s reward policies. 4. Supervisors with available funds may provide additional living stipends. 5. Full social insurance, medical insurance, housing provident fund and other statutory benefits are fully covered. 6. Postdocs are encouraged to apply for national, municipal and departmental research grants; all awarded funding belongs entirely to the grantee for research use. IV. Introduction to Postdoctoral Research Stations (I) Electrical Engineering Postdoctoral Station Founded in 2001, affiliated with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. It hosts numerous distinguished supervisors including CAE academicians and National Outstanding Youth Fund recipients. Supported by the "985 Advantageous Discipline Platform", national key discipline of Power System and Its Automation, and Beijing first-class key discipline of Electrical Engineering. It operates 8 national and provincial key labs and research centers such as the State Key Laboratory of New Energy Power Systems, Beijing Key Laboratory of High Voltage and Electromagnetic Compatibility, Beijing Engineering Research Center for Energy and Power Information Security, and MOE Engineering Research Center for Electric Energy Conversion and Smart Power Utilization, delivering top-tier research infrastructure. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, cumulative research contract funding reached 1.784 billion yuan with an average annual value of 446 million yuan, a 254% increase compared with the 13th Five-Year Plan, and vertical funding totaled 612 million yuan. The school secured 5 national key R&D programs, major smart grid special projects, national defense sci-tech megaprojects, 13 major and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and 29 national key R&D and smart grid special projects. Research directions include new power transmission and transformation technologies and equipment, large-scale energy storage grid-connected control and flexible system operation, protection and safety control of new energy power systems, multi-information fusion and integrated energy systems, energy internet information and communication technologies, smart power internet of things technologies, new power system forms and market mechanisms, new energy grid connection and power prediction, advanced electrical materials and electrical equipment, design and control of new motor systems. Preferred majors are electrical engineering and related fields, electronic information, information and communication engineering, electronic science and technology, chemical engineering and technology, materials, materials science and engineering, mechanics and other related majors. (II) Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics Postdoctoral Station Established in 2007 under the School of Energy, Power and Mechanical Engineering. Supervisors include CAE academicians, 973 Program chief scientists, and recipients of special government allowances from the State Council. Discipline branches cover engineering thermophysics, thermal energy engineering, power machinery and engineering, fluid machinery and engineering, refrigeration and cryogenic engineering, and chemical engineering. Since establishment, 84 postdoctoral researchers of various types have been recruited, with 26 currently in the station. Thirty-four person-times have obtained funding from the National Natural Science Foundation and China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, including 11 National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund recipients, 1 Hong Kong Scholars Program recipient, 2 Postdoctoral Innovation Talent Support Program recipients, 1 China Association for Science and Technology Youth Talent Support Project recipient, 3 Beijing Youth Talent Support Project recipients, 1 Overseas Doctor Talent Introduction Program recipient, 4 China Postdoctoral Science Foundation Special Funding recipients, and 16 China Postdoctoral Science Foundation General Funding recipients. The station was rated excellent in the national postdoctoral research station evaluation in 2020. Research directions cover four parts. First, energy and power: safe, efficient, clean and flexible operation of thermal power, nuclear power and new energy power generation, advanced energy systems such as multi-energy complementarity and CO2 cycles. Second, energy equipment: ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant equipment, wind turbine blades and transmission systems, photovoltaic and solar energy equipment, design, process, materials and operation and maintenance of heavy-duty and hydrogen gas turbines, high-efficiency wide-margin compressors for power generation systems with multiple working fluids. Third, energy and environment: pollutant removal for thermal power generation, monitoring and control of heavy metals and PM2.5, CO2 emission reduction and utilization. Fourth, energy storage: electrochemical energy storage materials, devices and processes, mechanical energy storage, thermochemical energy storage, hydrogen production, transportation and utilization technologies, thermal energy storage and integrated energy systems. Preferred majors are energy and power including new energy, energy storage, hydrogen energy and other related majors, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, mechanical engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering and technology, materials, materials science and engineering, mechanics, civil engineering, environmental science and engineering and other related majors. (III) Business Administration Postdoctoral Station Launched in 2003 under the School of Economics and Management. It has the provincial and ministerial key discipline of Technical Economy and Management, one provincial and ministerial key laboratory, one provincial and ministerial experimental teaching demonstration center, one national virtual simulation teaching center, and three provincial and ministerial research bases. Discipline directions include power market theory and application, technical and economic evaluation theory and application, technological innovation management, power economic management, technological progress and sustainable development, optimization theory and technical and economic decision-making, energy, power and environment. In the past five years, the school has presided over more than 60 national-level projects such as national key R&D programs, major National Social Science Fund projects, the Program of Introducing Talents of Discipline to Universities, general and youth projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, general National Social Science Fund projects, as well as multiple provincial and ministerial research projects and more than 370 enterprise horizontal projects, with total research funds reaching 200 million yuan, ranking at the top among economics and management schools of domestic universities. Research directions include power market theory and application, technical and economic evaluation theory and application, technological innovation management, power economic management, technological progress and sustainable development, optimization theory and technical and economic decision-making, energy, power and environment, carbon finance, carbon market and so on. Preferred majors are business administration, management science and engineering, electrical engineering, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, economics, mathematics, computer and other related majors. (IV) Management Science and Engineering Postdoctoral Station Founded in 2009 within the School of Economics and Management. The faculty team consists of national excellent teachers, Beijing teaching masters and excellent teachers, Beijing model teachers of ethics, and New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education. It has the Beijing Key Discipline of Management Science and Engineering, a national virtual simulation experimental teaching center, the Ministry of Education 111 Talent Introduction Base, a Beijing Key Laboratory, and a Beijing higher education demonstration in-school innovation practice base. In the past five years, the school has presided over more than 30 national-level projects including key National Natural Science Foundation projects, key National Social Science Fund projects, general and youth National Natural Science Foundation projects, general National Social Science Fund projects, as well as a large number of provincial and ministerial research projects. More than 150 high-quality academic papers are published every year with rising academic influence, forming a distinctive energy and power characteristic management discipline. Research directions include management science and application, energy management theory and methods, project management theory and methods, energy data science and application, risk management and decision-making theory, energy economy and low-carbon development, carbon metering and dual control of carbon emissions and so on. Preferred majors are management science and engineering, business administration, electrical engineering, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, economics, statistics, mathematics, computer and other related majors. (V) Control Science and Engineering Postdoctoral Station Set up in 2012 under the School of Control and Computer Engineering. There are many outstanding supervisors such as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, national advanced individuals of teacher ethics, winners of national talent programs, Capital Labor Medal winners, and Beijing teaching masters. It has built research platforms and teams including the State Key Laboratory of New Energy Power Systems new technology experimental platform for power generation process measurement and control, Beijing Key Laboratory of New Technology and Systems for Industrial Process Measurement and Control, Beijing Engineering Research Center of Electric Power Information Technology, Ministry of Education Innovation Team of Combustion and Advanced Detection Technology, and the 111 Talent Introduction Base for Intelligent Distributed Energy Systems. Discipline directions include control theory and control engineering, detection technology and automation devices, systems engineering, pattern recognition and intelligent systems. In recent years, the school has undertaken national key R&D program key special projects, national science and technology support program projects, key National Natural Science Foundation projects as the leading unit, with total research funds exceeding 300 million yuan. It has won one first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and more than 30 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards. Research directions include intelligent power generation theory and technology, virtual power plants and integrated energy systems, new energy power generation control and operation maintenance, data modeling and optimal control of new energy power systems, distributed control of networked systems, intelligent control theory and application, artificial intelligence technology and application, power cyber-physical security and privacy protection. Preferred majors are automation, electronic information, computer and other related majors. (VI) Nuclear Science and Technology Postdoctoral Station Established in 2019 under the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering. It has a large number of postdoctoral cooperative supervisors led by high-level talents such as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, national talent program winners, Beijing teaching masters, and recipients of special government allowances from the State Council. The core platform is the Beijing Key Laboratory of Passive Nuclear Energy Safety Technology. Research directions include nuclear power plant control and simulation, nuclear reactor neutron physics and radiation protection, nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics and safety, new materials and their applications in nuclear energy, frontier nuclear science theories and particle detection. In the past five years, total research funds have exceeded 150 million yuan. The school has presided over or participated in more than 60 national science and technology major projects, national key R&D programs, national major scientific instrument development projects, key and major National Natural Science Foundation projects, and more than 100 enterprise commissioned research projects, winning multiple national and provincial teaching and research awards. Research directions include full-scope virtual simulation of nuclear power engineering experiments, nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics, radiation measurement and radiation protection, nuclear electronics, nuclear reactor materials and structural mechanics, nuclear materials, X-ray CT and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging. Preferred majors are nuclear engineering, nuclear science and technology, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, materials, materials science and engineering, physics, chemical engineering and technology, energy and power and other related majors. (VII) Hydraulic Engineering Postdoctoral Station Opened in 2023 under the School of Hydraulic and Hydropower Engineering. The faculty is an international and engineering-oriented high-level team composed of national talent program winners, State Council special allowance recipients, Beijing excellent teachers, Beijing Association for Science and Technology Youth Talent Support Project recipients and Hong Kong Scholars Program recipients. A cross-complementary platform system for civil and hydraulic multiple disciplines has been built, including the Smart Water Conservancy Virtual Simulation Experiment Center, Pumped Storage Comprehensive Test Center, and Hydraulics Laboratory. Research directions cover hydrology and water resources, river dynamics and hydroinformatics, hydraulic structures and geotechnical engineering, water conservancy and hydropower engineering, water environment and water ecology and so on. In recent years, the school has presided over national scientific research projects such as national key R&D program topics, key National Natural Science Foundation projects, as well as enterprise and institution commissioned projects with total funds exceeding 200 million yuan. It has won more than 10 provincial and ministerial awards including the first prize of the Dayu Water Conservancy Science and Technology Award and the special prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the China Dam Engineering Society. Research directions include development and utilization of basin hydropower energy, operation simulation and risk analysis of hydropower systems, flood control and disaster reduction theory and water safety analysis, smart basin virtual simulation, smart hydropower digital twin technology, water environment and water ecology, hydraulic structures and geotechnical engineering, resettlement engineering and resettlement economy, key pumped storage technologies. Preferred majors are hydraulic engineering and related majors, hydraulic engineering and management, hydraulic and hydropower equipment, civil engineering, geology, civil engineering related majors, power technology and other related majors.
