Job Description

China University of Geosciences (Beijing) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and co-built with the Ministry of Natural Resources. It became a national first-class discipline construction university in 2017 and was listed as a "Double First-Class" construction university and disciplines in the second round in 2022. A research-focused university renowned for geology, resources and environment, it covers disciplines including science, engineering, arts, management, economics and law. Two disciplines, Geology and Geological Resources and Geological Engineering, are national "Double First-Class" construction disciplines. Eight fields—Earth Sciences, Engineering, Materials Science, Environment and Ecology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Social Sciences and Agricultural Sciences—rank among the world’s top 1% in ESI ratings; Earth Sciences, Engineering, and Environment and Ecology rank within the top 1‰, with Earth Sciences reaching the top 1‰ globally. Focused on the strategy of strengthening the university through talent development, the school fosters a supportive environment for young talent growth, attaches high priority to postdoctoral development, continuously optimizes institutional frameworks, innovates service mechanisms, and drives high-quality advancement of postdoctoral programs. The university now operates 16 postdoctoral research stations and has signed joint postdoctoral training partnerships with over 60 postdoctoral workstations nationwide, having nurtured a total of 790 postdoctoral researchers to date. To further bolster the postdoctoral talent team and leverage postdocs as a core force for first-class discipline development, the university is openly recruiting innovative, high-caliber postdoctoral researchers worldwide, in compliance with *Measures for the Management of Postdoctoral Researchers of China University of Geosciences (Beijing)* (Zhongdidajingfa [2023] No. 59). I. Recruitment Targets Applicants must be under 35 years of age upon station entry, and their doctoral degree must have been awarded within the preceding three years. II. Recruitment Type All openings are for Qiuzhen Postdoctoral positions. III. Funding Allocation Qiuzhen Postdoctoral funding is shared jointly by the university and the supervising professor for a two-year tenure. University funding is disbursed via the Personnel Department, while supervisor-provided funding is managed by the affiliated school. Supervisors are required to provide no less than 50,000 yuan per year for science and engineering disciplines, and no less than 20,000 yuan per year for humanities and social science disciplines. The university Finance Department establishes dedicated postdoctoral funding accounts for each school for exclusive receipt and disbursement of postdoctoral funds. Supervisors must transfer the first year’s funding into the school’s postdoctoral account before the postdoc starts; the second year’s funding must be deposited within one month after the postdoc passes the mid-term assessment. Once funds are received, each school logs monthly postdoctoral stipends into the financial payroll system, which are reviewed by the school, approved by the Personnel Department, and finally disbursed by the Finance Department.
