Harbin Engineering University 2025 Postdoctoral Recruitment Notice
Job Description
I. University Overview
Harbin Engineering University (HEU) traces its roots to the PLA Military Engineering Institute (known as "Harbin Military Engineering Institute"), founded in 1953. Affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, HEU is a joint university supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, Heilongjiang Province, and Harbin Municipal Government. It is one of the "Seven Sons of National Defense," a key university in the "211 Project," a university in the "985 Project Advantageous Discipline Innovation Platform," and a national "Double First-Class" construction university. With the distinctive features of "Three Maritime Fields and One Nuclear Domain" (shipbuilding, marine engineering, oceanography, and nuclear science & technology), HEU is guided by "Double First-Class" construction and embarks on a new journey to build a world-class university with distinctive characteristics, driven by the confidence to dare, the determination to succeed, an open vision, and a cooperative spirit.
Currently, HEU’s discipline of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering has entered the national "Double First-Class" discipline list, ranking first in China with an A+ rating in the discipline evaluation. Its Nuclear Science and Technology ranks third in the country, and Control Science and Engineering is among the top disciplines in China. Basic disciplines such as Mechanics and Management Science and Engineering, as well as humanities and management disciplines, continue to rise in rankings. All participating first-level doctoral disciplines rank among the top 30% nationwide. Engineering has entered the top 1‰ of ESI global rankings, while Materials Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, and Environment/Ecology are among the top 1% of ESI global rankings.
Seizing the opportunity of the national marine power strategy, HEU, leveraging its "Three Maritime Fields and One Nuclear Domain" strengths, is in a historic period of development. We sincerely invite outstanding global talents to join HEU as postdoctoral researchers and jointly write a new chapter!
### II. Recruitment Needs and Contact Information
#### Harbin Campus:
Focusing on national major strategic needs and the fields of ships, oceans, and nuclear science, we aim to build a distinctive disciplinary system of "prominent peaks and rising plateaus" centered on "Three Maritime Fields and One Nuclear Domain." This system integrates first-class priority disciplines, first-class cultivating disciplines, backbone supporting disciplines, basic and frontier disciplines, humanities and social sciences, and emerging interdisciplinary disciplines, fostering mutual support and coordinated development. We prioritize supporting and advancing breakthrough innovations in specific fields of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, addressing major disruptive and key technologies in national deep-sea development and the construction of the Navy’s new combat forces, and striving to build a world-class disciplinary benchmark with Chinese characteristics.
#### Qingdao Innovation and Development Base:
Jointly established by HEU and Qingdao Municipal Government, the Qingdao Innovation and Development Base upholds the spirit of the "Harbin Military Engineering Institute" and leverages HEU’s strengths in "Three Maritime Fields and One Nuclear Domain." With confidence, determination, openness, and cooperation, it deeply aligns with the national marine power strategy and the blue ocean economy blueprint of the Shandong Peninsula. It aims to become an "outlet" for HEU’s distinctive education, a "test field" for comprehensive reforms, and a "highland" for attracting high-level innovative talents, better supporting national strategies and the development of the ship and marine industries.
The Qingdao Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, relying on HEU’s headquarters, has 13 postdoctoral disciplines. It leverages research platforms and faculty resources from both locations to implement joint postdoctoral training with the headquarters, and, taking advantage of its geographical position, strives to cultivate a team of postdoctoral researchers with independent research capabilities, strong academic standards, and high comprehensive qualities.
#### Yantai Research Institute:
Centered on the core positioning of "Grand Marine Engineering," the Yantai Research Institute leverages Yantai’s advantages as a node city in the Northeast Asian economic circle, a city in the construction of Shandong Huang-Bohai New Area, and a pillar of high-quality marine economic development in Shandong. It integrates Yantai’s comprehensive industrial resources and relies on 7 provincial-level and above scientific research platforms (including the Nuclear Power and Nuclear Island Industry Metrology and Testing Center, Shandong Smart Marine Industry Technology Research Institute, and Shandong Grand Marine Engineering Industry-Education Integration Graduate Joint Training Base), as well as HEU’s headquarters research platforms and 13 postdoctoral disciplines. It promotes industry-education integration and collaborative research to cultivate strategic young postdoctoral talents with interdisciplinary expertise, versatility, and an international perspective.
### IV. Postdoctoral Training and Development
#### (1) Domestic Leading Research Platforms and Support Measures
Scientific research has always been a driving force for HEU’s development. The university’s annual research funding exceeds 3.2 billion yuan, with an average annual research funding of over 1 million yuan per researcher. HEU houses more than 40 research platforms and over 150 research and teaching laboratories, including more than 20 national-level research platforms such as national key laboratories, fully supporting postdoctoral research.
Disciplinary postdoctoral researchers are provided with policy resources and conditional support as needed, and can be included in performance allowance distribution. Faculty postdoctoral researchers receive 100,000 yuan in research funding support during their tenure.
#### (2) High-Quality Education for Children
Postdoctoral researchers’ children can access Harbin’s top-tier integrated education from HEU Kindergarten, Harbin Institute of Technology Affiliated Primary School, and Harbin Institute of Technology Affiliated Middle School. All three institutions are located within the university campus, making it easy to balance childcare and work. The affiliated middle school is recognized as a "National Model School with Distinctive Education" and "National Top 10 Education Institution," ensuring high-quality education and peace of mind for faculty.
#### (3) Development Potential and Paths
Outstanding faculty postdoctoral researchers may apply for positions in the full-time teaching staff upon completion of their tenure.
Postdoctoral researchers can participate in professional and technical title evaluations during their tenure.
### V. Recruitment Qualifications
1. Hold a doctoral degree and academic credentials, with excellent academic performance and good health; generally, no more than 3 years since obtaining the doctoral degree.
2. Faculty postdoctoral researchers should be under 32 years of age in principle; research postdoctoral researchers should be under 35 years of age.
3. Possess strong research capabilities and development potential, meeting the recruitment requirements of each research team.
