The Geography Discipline of Yunnan University

The Geography discipline of Yunnan University obtained the first-level discipline doctoral program in 2017, was approved as a Yunnan Provincial Postdoctoral Research Station in 2018, and became a National Postdoctoral Research Station in 2023. It has established a complete talent training system covering undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in geography, and is a key discipline with advantageous characteristics in Yunnan Province. Focusing on resource development and environmental protection in southwest China, the station conducts both basic and applied research, and has formed two distinctive and advantageous research directions: "Hydrological and Ecological Processes and Safety Regulation in Plateau Mountain Cross-border Basins" and "Environmental Change and Ecological Conservation in Plateau Mountains". It has achieved outstanding results in scientific research, talent cultivation, and supporting national and local economic development and environmental protection.

Due to the needs of scientific research, the research team led by Researcher Fan Hui from the Institute of International Rivers and Eco-Security of Yunnan University is now recruiting 2-3 postdoctoral researchers.

### I. Proposed Research Directions

1. Watershed ecological risk assessment

2. Simulation of watershed eco-hydrological processes

3. Mechanisms of terrestrial ecological impacts of hydropower projects

### II. Application Requirements

1. Under 35 years old; obtained a doctoral degree within the past 3 years; fresh doctoral graduates who can graduate and obtain a doctoral degree within half a year.

2. Capable of independently carrying out scientific research, with innovative thinking, a strong sense of responsibility, good academic ethics, and team spirit; in good physical and mental health, with sound moral character.

3. Having research backgrounds in related disciplines such as geography, ecology, remote sensing science and technology, and environmental science.

4. Possessing good English reading, writing, and communication skills; in the past 5 years, having published at least 2 SCI papers in the research fields related to the proposed postdoctoral work (or 1 paper in CAS Tier 1 journals), or at least 3 papers in Chinese excellent journals.

### III. Salary and Benefits

1. Competitive salary, a favorable research environment, and a platform for career development will be provided. Salaries, welfare benefits, and annual remuneration will be implemented in accordance with the relevant regulations of Yunnan University for postdoctoral researchers, consisting mainly of a starting annual salary and a bonus annual salary, paid monthly for 24 months. Among them, the starting annual salary for faculty postdoctoral researchers is pre-tax 200,000 yuan, and that for full-time research postdoctoral researchers is pre-tax 168,000 yuan. For faculty postdoctoral researchers, the bonus annual salary can be increased if they obtain national-level research projects as project leaders during their tenure at the university, with the maximum annual salary reaching pre-tax 260,000 yuan. In addition, the institute, cooperative supervisors, and the team will provide performance allowances (unlimited amount) based on the postdoctoral researchers’ achievements and contributions. Full-time postdoctoral researchers will be provided with 24-month free on-campus apartment accommodation or a housing subsidy (1,000 yuan/month). Their children will be eligible for admission to Yunnan University Kindergarten and Yunnan University Affiliated Primary School.

2. The term of postdoctoral research is generally 2 years. If an extension is needed due to project requirements, the applicant shall submit an extension application two months before the expiration, which will be subject to the approval of the cooperative supervisor, the research station, and the university, and then filed with the University Postdoctoral Management Office. Outstanding postdoctoral researchers may apply for positions at the university upon completion of their tenure, and may apply for the "Xingdian Talents Support Program" of Yunnan Province, the High-Level Talent Program of Yunnan University, etc.

3. The specific salary, benefits, and on-station requirements shall be subject to the *Interim Measures for the Management of Faculty Postdoctoral Researchers at Yunnan University* (Yunda Ren [2018] No. 8), *Interim Measures for the Management of Postdoctoral Work at Yunnan University* (Yunda Ren [2015] No. 4), and the latest documents and regulations of Yunnan University.
